your cpu does not support long mode. use a 32bit distribution.
- contains a processor that does not support AMD-V or Intel VT-x hardware virtualization, or
- does not have hardware virtualization enabled in the BIOS.
If you are running VMware server and have a 64bit system that you are trying to run a 64bit client operating system and you get the following error “CPU does not support long mode” that could mean your bios is not configured correctly. Get into your computers bios and check the cpu settings, there should be a setting for VT (Virtualization Technology) and make sure that is enabled. It is as simple as enabling it, saving the changes and doing a reboot.
note:VirtualBox can run 64-bit guests on a 32-bit host. You’ll need to make sure your processor has hardware virtualization and that it is enabled in the BIOS.
